Welcome

The faculty members of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management welcome you to our Department and are pleased that you have joined our residency program.
Our training program at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital (JHSH) of Cook County offers many distinct advantages. We are strategically located in the center of Chicago, a multitude of cultural opportunities, and an ethnic population that is unparalleled in its diversity. Our faculty is committed to excellence in teaching so that our graduates are well prepared for a career in this rapidly advancing field.
Our program is geared to a curriculum with the specific knowledge, skills, and attitude that are needed for our residents to demonstrate competencies in scientific and practical foundations of Anesthesiology. Our specific goals are to satisfy the requirements of the American Board of Anesthesiology and prepare physicians to be a consultant and a competent anesthesiologist.
In short, the major objective of our Residency Training Program is to provide an environment in which physicians can develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to meet the future challenges of perioperative medicine. We are committed to ensuring that our graduating residents are trained in a manner that will allow them to be competitive for the most important academic and private practice positions.
